Report and Photo from Ottawa

Added: May 21st, 2008

The Tibet Freedom Torch was paddled along the Rideau Canal to Parliament Hill in Canada’s capital Ottawa in a traditional Canadian voyageur canoe. On the hill it was run, cycled, and walked around the parliamentary grounds, before the demonstrators took the torch to the Chinese embassy for a brief ceremony.

Many newspapers and even one TV station carried powerful photos and coverage of the event.

Here is one example: On page 6 of 24 Hrs, you will see a beaming Jurme Wangda proudly holding the Freedom Torch from the canoe: http://v2.myvirtualpaper.com/doc/24hrsottawa/20080516/2008051603/
