Summary of Taiwan Leg of Tibetan Freedom Torch Relay

Added: July 10th, 2008

Taiwan Friends of Tibet has organized a team of more than 20 persons to bring the Tibetan Freedom Torch to the top of the Jade Mountain, the highest mountain in Taiwan and Eastern Asia. From the top of Jade Mountain, the tibet supporters saw a half moon rainbow which is called “Buddha Circle” and is seen as a precious luck symbol. They shouted “Free Tibet” and “Long Live H.H. Dalai Lama” on the top to show their support for a free Tibet and to greet Dalai Lama a happy birthday. We chose the day of Dalai Lama’s birthday to pay our respect to Daila Lama. The vedio and photo was shared by the press and concerned people at Taipei in the afternoon press conference of July 6th. We also went to welcome the first flight of Chinese tourists at the airport on July 4th before leaving for the mountain. We show our sincerity and welcome Chinese to learn more about freedom and to understand more facts of Tibet and Tibetan’s thinking and feelings. We hope more Chinese visiting Taiwan will bring mutual understanding between Tibetan and Chinese.
