Tibetan Freedom Torch in Indiana
FISHERS, Ind - The Tibetan Freedom Torch will be coming to Indiana on June 3 and 4. On Tuesday (June 3), there will be a rally and press conference at Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis at 9am followed by a bicycle ride to Bloomington, Indiana.

Two of Taktser Rinpoche’s (oldest brother of His Holiness The Dalai Lama) three children will be riding. Their names are Jigme Norbu (42 years old) and Kunga Norbu (45 years old). The ride will end in Martinsville (Indiana) on Tuesday. Basically, the route is SR37 South.

On Wednesday (June 4), the ride will resume from around Martinsville and proceed to the Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center in Bloomington where the riders will present the Tibetan Freedom Torch to Taktser Rinpoche at around noon. Taktser Rinpoche’s oldest son, Lhundup Norbu (46 years old), will be on hand for this as well. Thus, all three of Rinpoche’s children will be present for the Torch ceremony.

This event will be followed by a walk with the Torch from the Center to the downtown Bloomington Courthouse. A rally and press conference will occur at the Courthouse at 5pm. Tibetan Monks, other Tibetans, and westerners will walk from the Center to downtown. Note that June 4 is the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square protests.
